Any undertaking that consigns, transports, packs, fills, loads or unloads dangerous goods on a regular basis – by road, rail or inland waterway must appoint a DGSA.
These regulations can apply to any person who allows dangerous goods to be carried, not just the transport operator. This could include cargo consignors, freight forwarders, warehouse workers and manufacturers producing goods that will be collected from their factory.
Ascent works with DGSAs that can provide occasional consultancy, DGSA cover or a fully comprehensive all year round service.
To assess the needs of the specific business the DGSA will conduct an initial audit and advise of any ADR and CDG regulation deficiencies. From there on in the DGSA will:
- Conduct an annual audit that reviews current procedures and identify improvements to ensure compliance
- Provide on call advice on issues relating to the carriage of dangerous goods and training requirements for staff
- Produce reports on any incident involving dangerous goods.
